The NDIS National Workforce Plan recognises the NDIS Workforce Capability Framework (the Framework) as articulating the Australian Government’s expectations around workforce quality and states that it will be crucial for governments and industry to embed the framework in the workforce. The Government itself will support implementation of the Framework through a range of activities including developing resources, supporting research activities and developing assessment criteria.

The Framework implementation project directly supports the Plan’s overarching purpose to grow a responsive and capable care and support workforce, and improve workforce management practices in the sector. The project consists of three major areas of activity:

  • Communications and promotion of the Framework.
  • Development of resources to embed the Framework into all aspects of workforce planning and management practices, including an interactive self-assessment tool for potential job applicants; an interactive capability-based recruitment tool and associated guide; a participant guide to using the Framework; a maturity assessment and workforce planning too and guidance, and more.
  • Research and exploration of potential models for delivery of supervision, learning and development, etc.
